My problem is that whenever I right-click on a file I get a blank spot in the menu. When I click it, I get a small error box with the red circle and white X icon, but no text whatsoever. I don't know when the problem started and it still remains after completing the virus/malware thing. Hopefully someone here might know something.

You didn't mention that when you described it to me. I think you best come back to the malware forum and we will envestigate further.
