Please help me out. When I start my computer, I automatically know something's wrong because it has vertical lines all over my screen. It won't even boot into Windows. It'll just reboot and tell me that the computer did not shut down properly and force me to either start windows normally, or go to system repair. System repair did not help. Sometimes it'll just take me to a blank screen with red vertical lines everywhere. It's just a mess!

If I can't retrieve my files that are in my hard drive, I just want to get this headache over with and do a complete system restore, but they won't let me do that. I'm absolutely helpless.

I bought my computer with Vista, but installed Windows 7 when it came out. My friend has the CD and hopefully that will help restore my computer and save my files.

What's your take on this? Thanks!

P.S. - Someone told me to download this http://www.freedrweb.com/livecd
