it goes until a box comes up saying cannot copy iexplore.chm and in the box it says c:\windows\ie8. what can i do to get ie8 off

you can't remove it...its part of windows...you can only uninstall IE...and then it only rolls back to a previous version...
of course you can use firefox or chrome and pretend its not even on your system like I do.. :) :)

Firefox is great.

I also recommend the NoScript add-on. It takes a bit
of getting used to, but its great protection.
