I tried to do everything that was listed for downloads and used the advice from other posts to get rid of some of thie problem, but I am still encountering some pop-ups and my system is slower and well, I'm nervous that there is still a prob with my system and I would like someone who knows what they're doing to tell me everything is ok, whenever it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Crystal

Hi C&K. Welcome to GTG. ;)

1. Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.geekstogo.com/modules.php?modid=5&action=download&id=17 , Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants.

2. Scan the computer here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/
Let it do a full run, than copy the log and paste it to a blank Notepad file and save it to post here after you finish all the steps.
Than let it rerun. Save that log too.

3. Please set your system to show
all hidden files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

4. Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\uvpzmp.exe
Exit the Task Manager when finished.

5. Close all programs and all windows, leaving only HijackThis running. Please disconnect from the internet. Place a check narj against each of the following, making sure you get each one and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar =
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.comcast.net/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IB7tRVZ6V] pxdrdsvr.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [sf] C:\Program Files\sf\sf.exe

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin\npjpi142.dll
O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Shdocvw.dll

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

6. Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\uvpzmp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\User\snuninst.exe
pxdrdsvr.exe
C:\Program Files\sf\<<entire folder
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (if there)

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.

The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.

Let the system reboot.

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log and the Ewido logs, and we will take another look to see how we did. :tazz:

I didn't see the task to end under Processes that you said to end but I think I did everything else. Please let me know what you think. When i ran the Ewido after, i was still not connected to the internet...not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks again for helping! You rock! Let me know what else I need to do at your convenience. Sorry I am getting this posted so late. Gots to love working late. Crystal

Please reset your restore points. I am giving you full instructions on how to disable and enable system restore. Do not enable until you are clean. ;)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Run Ewido again.

And then run
TDS-3 - DOWNLOAD HOME PAGE

Download and run
CleanUp! - DOWNLOAD- HOME PAGE
CleanUp!, is a quick and easy way to delete temporary files from your system. Simply deleting these temp files may clear some infections, and will make running the following scans faster.

* Install and run. Click on the button labeled CleanUp!.
* When it finishes it will prompt you to restart Windows - there will be one or two files it cannot delete when Windows is running - however, they will be deleted next time Windows starts up.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. ;)

We highly recommend installing SP2. Click here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
-or-
It's a very large download, so if you're on dial-up, order a free CD here:

Right click on http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.vbs and choose Save As...Save it to your Desktop. Make sure you have disabled any programs that may block/disable scripts (ex: Ad-Watch, TeaTimer, Norton, etc.). Double click on 'Silent Runners' to run it. This will take a few minutes. It will create a file called 'Startup Programs' followed by your computer name and current date. Open up that file and post all the contents here in your next post.
