Hello,

First off...... Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I have the following Notebook will the following specs:


Compaq Presario CQ60
Notebook PC
Product # NB050UA#ABA
System Board ID: 3612

Processor Type: Intel Pentium Dual
CPU T3400
Processor Speed: 2.16GHz
Total Memory: 3072 MB

Bios Version F.36

OS: Vista Home


When i turn it on, I receive the following error:

no bootable device -- insert boot disk


I have tried several thing to try and get this to work, but at this point it seems like the notebook will not boot any boot able Cd's. I have replaced the HD with a brand new one and attempted to reinstall Windows, but it will not boot to the OS CD.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Have you gone in to the bios and set the netbook to boot from CD?
Remember to save and exit.

At reboot you should see some thing like "to boot from cd hit any key".

I'd say upon making sure your CD/DVD is set to boot first, make sure your connections to your drives are secure too, such as the IDE Cords and Molex Connectors. My Dell computer did that to me once and upon opening it and pressing on the cords I realized it wasn't connected all the way. Strange.

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry for the delay in responding. I have insured that the BIOS are set to boot from that drive and nothing. I have checked the connection (Very briefly) but will reexamine it when I get home to insure there is a solid connection.

I did try to connect an external DVD drive, and it does not seem to be reading/finding it. The external will receive power, but will not work.
