My computer keeps shutting off every hour or so, especially when I try to download programs. When the computer turns off I get a blue screen followed by the start-up screen that asks me if I want to restart in safe mode or regular.

The problem began when I downloaded the 5-in-1 security system to my computer, which attempted to download Vista updates. the downloading went fine, but once the computer re-started it tried to upload the vista updates and then got to step 3 and could not finish it and the problem began.

In addition, the computer said that it could not update the vista files and it was retracting the files that were attempted.

The computer shut-off and the re-start problem began from then on.

Help!!!

angelarichard-

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

This is usually a last resort- there are ways to solve these problems with a complete reinstall. :)

CinnaStixxx-

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

The problem began when I downloaded the 5-in-1 security system to my computer

What program exactly did you download and install?

Let's take a look at those blue screens...
  • Please download BlueScreenView (choose the ZIP folder).
  • Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP folder.
  • Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
  • When scanning is done, go to Edit > Select All.
  • Go to File > Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
  • Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy the information (Edit > Select All, Edit > Copy) and paste it into your next reply.
