I have a dell with windows xp. that is about all I know with the specifics.

Unsuccessful in trying to install Microsoft updates
Unsuccessful in trying to install acrobat reader updates
I then tried to do system restore, I was able to go into the system restore page and I selected a restore point about a month ago before the above problems started occurring and when it was time to reboot the computer locked up and I manually had to reboot the computer with the on/off button.

Now I have issues such as..
Blank facebook home page
On various pages buttons won’t work or are missing
Getting “javascript is disabled and can not redirect URL”
I can’t get back to the “help and support” page
When I do get to the system restore page it is blank
I have Mcafee and I recently renewed my subscription but when I click the icon to scan it will not go there

Which model of Dell please.
Most Dells come with Dell Diagnostics built in on a HDD partition that will analyse your system.
At this stage it looks like file corruption.
If you can get into My Computer right click the main HDD carrying Windows, usually "C" drive
then click Properties, then click the Tools tab, Error Checking - Check now- Select Automatically fix file system errors. Then Start. You will be asked if you wish to reschedule for next restart as a
disc in use cannot be checked. Select Yes.
Shut down and restart.
DO NOT THEN USE the computer for anything else or SHUT DOWN, do not interrupt the process it could take some time.
Post back anyway with model of Dell

I have a Dell 2400? pentium 4 bought in 2005. The process you directed me to do I did and nothing changed. Seems like I might have a java script issue. I ran an free antivirus and this is what I got
HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen HTML script virus

Is the TR/Trash.Gen Trojan

ADSPY/MWS adware or spyware

Of course I quarantined them and still nothing happened. Not very good with fixing these kinds of problems.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
