Hi everyone qot a quick quest..can i take a hard drive out of a pc with windows xp pro and put it in a pc with windows vista..as a sec drive and recover files from it with out reformating that drive........

Hi nightwolf,

Yes you can…. I just did this about two weeks ago, but what I did was I took the old hard drive out, and put it in an external enclosure. I hooked it to the new PC via USB, recovered all the files I needed, then wiped it clean to use it for extra storage, and back ups.

You can get all the files you need, but you will not be able to run XP from the drive as an operating system.
