I seem to have an issue with my sound card. I just installed windows 7 onto a newly installed hard drive. now i have no sound. upon further investigation i found this message:

"The driver for this device are not installed (code 28)"

I click to find update

cant find any driver updates. task bar icon says input 100%.

Unfortunately it appears that Dell only has Windows XP and Vista drivers for their Dell XPS 600:

You may end up having to install a separate sound card that comes with drivers for your version of Windows 7.

ok. so the only thing that is giving me an error atm is the "multimedia audio controller" which is giving me the code 28 driver update error. any thoughts? evrything else is indicating it is working fine.

For the new card, you should be able to download the latest drivers from the website.
