I have been having a look at my Niece's laptop as she is having problems getting the SE-S084 External DVD Writer to play DVD's.

I have now gotten it playing the movie but get no sound from it, it will play sound from a CD without any probs .

It uses Nero to play the DVDs not Windows media player, if that makes any difference.

go here and get VLC Media Player...install it then try playing a dvd
