can you trick the bios into seeing a second HDD as the floppy A: drive

someone i know told me he was able to install a sata driver during the installation of windows xp by tricking the bios into thinking that a second smaller IDE drive was actually a floppy disk. he refused to tell me how he did this and i was wondering is this possible or was he just screwing with me

This isn't possible.
Under XP the only supported method of adding additional SATA drivers is by floppy, internal or USB.
