This involves two computers, which, from each is data saved to the same external hardrive. One of the computers had 18 viruses, so I was told, and I don't know if (before I knew about the virus), when I saved the data from that computer to the external hardrive, did I also save the viruses.
In the meantime, the other computer had to be wiped clean and reinstalled. Now, both computers are, supposedly okay, and I don't want to mess them up again.

I know very little about computers, so please give advice in simple terms.

This is a situation where I input data into our business software, save it to the external hardrive, download it to the other computer and back again. How can I find out if the external hardrive has a virus, and how would I get rid of it, if it does.

Thanks for any help.
