If you use both :processes (at the beginning) and the [EMPTYTEMP] command (at the end), which one would have precedent over the other? I'm assuming OTL will look for the [EMPTYTEMP] command at the bottom before it finds the :processes directive at the top.

Is there an order in which OTL searches for the directives and/or commands?

Which leads me back to my original question:

I was more concerned about how they were listed in the tutorial and should they be scripted in that order:

1st :processes
2nd :OTL
3rd :Services
4th :Reg

I haven't tested it, but I like to think it works regardless of order (otherwise, what's the point of having them in strict order if it can be easily possible to program it to do the ordering itself).

If you want to make sure, create a test file somewhere on your Desktop or whatever. Then use :FILES to remove it in your fix and have :PROCESSES (with killallprocesses under it) inputted after the :FILES section. Then Run Fix and see what happens.

OldTimer is the owner and developer of the tool. I assist him with writing the tutorial and can help with general questions relating to the tute. Specialist technical questions need to be addressed via the private thread for OTs tools which you will have access to through GeekU, although this may not be available to you yet as a junior.

If you follow Amlak's suggestion you will find that you can use the directives in whatever order but as I said in my earlier post when you approach a fix you will want tailor it to your requirements otherwise the result may not be what you want.

If someone could please look at my log and tell me if something is creating my pc to react slowly it would be greatly appreciated.
I have been experiencing random errors, such as IE will not open, some games are running slowly, flashing or do not open and
notify exec. error, program will now exit.

When running Ashampoo Defragg always works correctly, but if I try to clean internet, it will report a run time error unless Firefox is open and
minimized. When it is not open it is unable to clean it. I have seen errors like sq lite dll not found when running Advanced System Optimizer,
but it reports no spyware or malware. The only cleaning methods I use are Windows 7 repair cleaner, and ASO.

If you have any suggestions, I would truly appreciate it.

I read your topic in the Applications forum. My recommendation is to follow the directions in rshaffer61's post. If you are not comfortable posting an OTL log, perhaps you could tell us what your reluctance is and I'm sure we could address that. If you are adamant about not posting a log, there really isn't much that we can offer in the way of help. Logs let us see what's going on in your system and if any malware is hiding there. Without logs to look at we would just be blindly groping and could do more harm than good.

The one thing I can tell you is to be sure that you understand how OTL works and what you're removing before you use it. If you remove something with an OTL fix the program won't ask you to confirm the removals, it assumes that you know what you're doing and it will just remove it.

Have a pretty good background with computers.

Trying to eliminate the google redirect virus on my windows 7 64 bit system.

Ran OTM according to the cleaner by copying and pasting (because I am a good girl & everyone said it worked for them):

My startup failed. 3 times now. I can't restart from the recovery console either. And it has been through startup repair 2 times now. I am going to have to re-install everything. I am really upset - I am in the middle of 4 classes - this is my senior year - and I need my system repaired now!

What happened and how do I restore it? And no, I can't paste anything to you - because it's on my system (laptop) - and I am using the main system in my house right now.

Thank you for the courtesy of informing us...unfortunately such false positive detections against any of the specific tools used here in the forum and the Anti-Malware community as a whole does occur from time to time. For example Microsoft Security Essentials is also incorrectly reporting a download of OTL is malicious at the time of this post also...

In the past I have spent some considerable time informing vendors about such false positive detections only for such to be again detected. However I will do so again.

For others who may read this particular topic(post), absolutely anything hosted here in Geeks to Go that in turn can be downloaded is perfectly safe to do so and will not harm any one machine unless it is something that would require the use of via the guidance of a trained Anti-Malware helper for example.
