I'm on the hunt for a new laptop since my current one is heat damaged & the CD drive just died on me.

I was wondering if some people more knowledgeable than myself might have some recommendations based on budget & usage.

Budget: $1,000.00 or less (Federal aid, doesn't need to be repaid until done with college)

Usage: Student, gaming, music, movies, photo editing, burning CDs & DVDs

Here's my thoughts so far based on my limited knowledge:

Processor: Intel only; preferably i5 or better

Memory: 3 GB or better; preferably 4 GB or better

Graphics card: Dedicated Graphics card Nvidia

Extras: Built in Web cam & Mic

Battery: long life preferably
