Like others our internet also keeps disconnecting. Apparently on the new computer we got at Christmas it has always been doing this, we thought the games were just hanging. My hubby replaced the ethernet card but it did not solve the problem. Now he has been laid off at work and has a chance to do some online training hopefully to get another job but the computer wont stay connected. We dont have the money to buy another one and I am not sure what to do. I came here asking for help. Thank you for the time.

How often? When did it start? Wireless or wired? We need a little more information to troubleshoot.

OK I asked hubby and he said it has done it since we got it, Its an HP 2.4 with 6 RAM, windows 7 64 bit, it has wireless but he has that turned off since he connects it right from the router, whatever that is, he also has Norton Internet security. He doesnt know why I asked, I am hoping with my very limited understanding and some help to get this fixed for him. As I stated he got laid off and is pretty down still. I can get whatever information you need if you just tell me how. Oh and it pops off every 3 to 5 minutes then reconnectes.

Try disabling Norton Internet Security. Also, please run ipconfig /all from the Run line by pressing the Windows Key + R.

I disabled Norton and ran that ipconfig, it flahed something real fast but I could not see what it was. Oh and siabling Norton did not solve the problem, I was just disconnected again. Funny thing is my son has a computer connected to the router thing and his never disconnects,

Nothing really suspicious there. Lets try disabling everything on startup to root that out.

Start -> Run -> msconfig

Click the startup tab, check the Hide all Microsoft services box, click disable all then reboot. See if it happens again.
