Connected but unable to actually surf

Hopefully I am not duplicating a previous posting.

I am running Vista on our home computer via DSL and I can see that I am connected to the internet, but the Internet Explorer won't display actual webpages.

I ping yahoo.com and it comes back successful and I ping the DSL and it comes back successful, but just not able to actually get on the web.

Just started this nonsense so have no idea what the issue is.

Any recommended solution to this issue?

To the top left click on "file" and uncheck work offfline. Also try tools-internet options-advanced-click on restore advance settings. and check
