ok so i will be the first to admit im not big on using computers, i know the simple stuff i use itunes and mozilla and thats about it.

now thats clear... i can only use the computer for about a minute before i get one of a handful alerts, i.e the infiltration alert, windows security center, internet explorer pops up to random sites, and nothing works except my mozilla.. my virus scan ( norton 360 ) says everything is good to go, but my icon does not appear in the right bottom corner, instead i have a antispyware soft icon?? ive read through some pages on here but i cant disable my firewall or anything, my computer literally will not open jack. ive tried downloading multiple programs for malware? and now i just keep getting redirected to viagra sites lol. any help would be awesome, again please understand im not the best at computers... so small terms!! THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

also im running on windows xp..

and i do not have a run options in my start menu...

I'm hammerman and I'm going to help you fix your problem.

Before we begin, here are some guidelines which will help us both in fixing your problem.

• Malware removal is not instantaneous and will take a number of steps to complete. Please continue to carry out the steps requested until I let you know that your computer appears clean.
• Please do no attach logs or post them in Quote/Code boxes unless requested.
• I suggest you print or save any instructions I give you for easy reference. We may be using Safe mode and you will not always be able to access this thread. You can copy and paste these instructions into Notepad and then save the text file to your Desktop. If you need any help with this or further clarification, please let me know.
• When posting logs, please ensure Word Wrap is turned off in Notepad. Open Notepad, select Format on the menu bar and make sure that Word Wrap is unchecked.
• Please follow the steps exactly in the same order posted. If you can't perform a certain step, or you're unsure on what to do, please stop and let me know.
• If in doubt about anything, please ask.

Please download OTH to your desktop ( if you use Firefox, right click on the OTH link and select Save as )
Please download OTL to your desktop
Please download the attached file Scan.txt to your desktop

Double click the OTH file to run it and click Kill All Processes, your desktop will go blank.



Then select Start OTL. OTL will now run

• Double-click on the Custom Scans box and a message box will popup asking if you want to load a custom scan from a file
  Select Scan.txt that you downloaded
  
• Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
• Click the Internet Explorer button, post these logs in your Virus Removal topic.

my computer will not let me run the oth or otl programs it pops up for a split sec then i get the antisoft virus alert cannot run file ... any ideas?

Hi,

We need to burn a boot CD on a clean PC.

Please print these instruction out so that you know what you are doing

• Download OTLPEStd.exe to your desktop
• Ensure that you have a blank CD in the drive
• Double click OTLPEStd.exe and this will then open imgburn to burn the file to CD
• Reboot your system using the boot CD you just created.
  Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here
• As the CD needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads
  
  
• Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
  Note : as you are running from CD it is not exactly speedy
• Double-click on the OTLPE icon.
• Select the Windows folder of the infected drive if it asks for a location
• When asked "Do you wish to load the remote registry", select Yes
• When asked "Do you wish to load remote user profile(s) for scanning", select Yes
• Ensure the box "Automatically Load All Remaining Users" is checked and press OK
• OTL should now start.
• Drag and drop this attached scan.txt into the Custom scans and fixes box
• Press Run Scan to start the scan.
• When finished, the file will be saved in drive C:\OTL.txt
• Copy this file to your USB drive if you do not have internet connection on this system.
• Right click the file and select send to : select the USB drive.
• Confirm that it has copied to the USB drive by selecting it
• You can backup any files that you wish from this OS
• Please post the contents of the C:\OTL.txt file in your reply.

thanks for taking the time to help me with this, i will have to wait until im back at home to get on my desktop and off my laptop. what sucks is i just had my computer sent off and had all my anti virus blah blah, updated and had it "cleaned" of junk. lol gotta love it! i will keep you updated hopefull i will have this fixed by tomorrow!!
