I don't see any unnecessary startups.

Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Download BlueScreenView ((in Zip file)
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under Select log to query, select:
Application
System

Under Select type to list, select:
Critical (Vista only)
Error

Click the radio button for Number of events
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

There were no BSOD results to output.

Make sure, your settings are correct...

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel (Start>Control Panel in Vista).
2. Double-click System.
3. Click (Advanced system settings link in Vista, then --->)the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
4. Make sure, there is a checkmark in Write an event to the system log.
5. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k) (128K in Windows 7).

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista/7), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista/7).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista/7, most likely, you won't need it).
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD (rarely in Vista/7 case).

The settings you suggested were exactly the same. Perhaps I deleted the dump when I used CCleaner?

Possible. Don't use CCleaner for a while, see if couple of new BSODs will happen.

Meanwhile, run "SFC".

Will do. I don't have the install disc, but I think I can get around that. Thank you for your patience and guidance.

I ran SFC and after it finished, I didn't get any messages. It seemed to stall several times for a couple of minutes, and that got me thinking that there might be a problem with it reading the files/replacing files, but it then continued on. I remember doing this a long time ago, and when it stalled for a while, I'd press the cd tray eject button and would see that I had to choose to retry replacing a problematic file (My wife found the original install CD). This time I didn't do that, as it continued with only a few minutes stalling(longest stall was about 5 minutes). Does this mean I have no problem with original Windows files?

I'd say, only time will show.
Keep using the computer and report back on any new happenings.
