mac sound on tv ?

hi all i have bought a vga adapter for my mac so i can watch movies from my mac on my tv which is fine i can view everything on my tv now but i have no sound. i have also bought a audio cable which connects to my mac and then goes in the back of my tv a red & white connector but still no sound....any ideas would be great, thanks

i think that vga doesnt carry sound, and if you connect the audio cable to another port, you may have to cycle through your imputs on your tv while playing music to figure out wich imput the sound comes through.

Have we told the TV to look for the audio coming in through the analogue port, and which port it would be? It may be set up to expect the audio over HDMI.The problem likely is on the TV's end.Its convenience falls short when it comes to supporting high bit rates. However has found a slick way to convert the audio to AC3 instead of DTS.
