Definately the first one. Second one looks a little too ragged.

that and..It will be a lot easier changing pics, instead of having to cut her out every time, you can save the template of the first one and put a new pic behind it. You can also do other stuff like make the yellow a gif, name the picture "intropic" and all you have to do is upload intropic every time you want to change the pic. :tazz:

I like that idea.

I'm fixing to start working on this project now.

It'll be hit and miss for a while as I work in IT at a casino here on the MS Gulf Coast. We are preparing for the big storm (Arlene).

Will reply soon..... :tazz:

Ok, new question while I'm working on this thing.

If I use this layout:

http://www.geekstogo...pe=post&id=1468

Is there any chance of me getting the hit counter and Last Update information on there too? If so, where would you put this information?

Just checking.

This isn't going to be a problem. It's your choice where to put the counter. Do you want a header and footer for your page or just a footer where all that stuff can go (counter, copyright info, etc.)?

Ok, I have a new plan that I think might finally get us to the end of the tunnel.

What I'm finding is that talking about this code and layout information is very difficult when you have to rely on words alone. If we are talking about web design, or design issues, it is so much easier when you can sketch your thoughts on paper.

I think what I'm going to resort to, for now anyway, is using the original layout that I have online now. It has all of the information I want and a picture placement I can easily work with. You see, when I tried that other layout (what we've been calling layout 1), I just can't seem to get all the information on the page that I want and still have it look good. I'm just not that creative is all. I will continue to work on a new layout, but will not bother you all any more with that. I understand that my trying to come up with a new layout is holding us up.

So, what we are dealing with for now is re-coding the original Intro Page so that it will resize. I have new pictures to put on the site this weekend, so plan to make an update soon. What I'll try is to put the whole Intro Page in a table. I'll set the whole thing up for percentages (including the photo). If I have everything set up for 100%, will that resize the page for me?

If you guys can create a better layout than what I have now, that's fantastic and I would be forever gratefull. If my idea about the table (paragraph above) isn't going to work, you guys can help me recode that page so it will resize if you don't mind. I'll be changing the picture for that page this weekend.

If you, or someone you know, can help me with a new layout just let me know. I am very interested in changing the design, but need a little boost of some sort.

Thanks for your help thus far. I hate I'm taking up so much of your time. If you can help me rework the code for the current Intro Page, we'll wrap this thing up soon. Remember, however, that I'll have the whole page in a table by this weekend.

Will work on it as soon as I can....having out-of-town guests this week at my place.

Talk Later, :tazz:

Yes, that would make the table 100% of the page and the picture 100% of the table.

SSONE:

I like the page you made. I've had two similar working pages from Major Payne. The problem with that, however, is that the entire page is one big ole' graphic. Somewhere in there I plan to inclue my hit counter and stuff. We can't have those elements overlay the graphic, so I dont' know how the resizing code you are using will work once we make those changes.

If the percentages for the table will work, I'll use that for now until I come up with a new layout.

I may resort to paying someone for a new design.

Thanks for the reply SSONE.

I'll keep you all posted on my progress. :tazz:

Hey :

I never added the counter to those pages yet since I never got feedback on whether they are working for you in hi and lo res without any scroll bars. Adding all that stuff to the bottom is not a problem as soon as you tell me which of those pages work for you. One of those pages is a whole page image with text in the center using the z-index. Rest can be added but I didn't want to clutter the page up until you selected one. The elements can overlay the graphic which is what the link to your site is doing.

QUOTE: "is that the entire page is one big ole' graphic."

just for the sake of ppl that were following this post, the example I had earlier was two graphics, not one. I set it up so you (magusbuckley) could have it easier, all u wouldve had to do was update the baby photo, and the yellow would stay put (seperate graphics). The cool thing is it looked like one. :tazz:

as for your new layout your working on, I could easily (codings can be hard, but could def do it is what Im saying) add a counter and links on any of the pages you have talked about so far, and I'm sure major payne could do the same. Its just that I/we diddnt want to code the whole thing when you dont seem set on the intro you like. Once you pic an intro style, I/we can tell you if it will/won't work with counter and links, but most likely 90-100% of the ones you'll think of will work.
