Desktop Changes/DSL Lockup/System Recovery Non-Functional

Critical small business computer. Without warning, desktop colors changed from blue to white. DSL stopped working. Most other functions seem normal. Tested DSL line and is fully operational. Conducted all of the normal tests (cable substitution, plug contacts, modem reset, etc.) without success. Finally, tried System Restore using one week and then one month ago without success. System refuses to accept restore points. Ran scans for malware, adware, and virus detection (Trend Micro). Any help/ideas greatly appreciated.

Try a repair install. Make sure to backup your data first just in case.
