I purchased a piece of software from someone who went out of business.

She sent me the software; license #; Registration #; dongle.

I tried to install it- software installs and wont let me open it because it expired 07/09/2004.

Tried putting in the dongle, thought that may have been all it needed. No go- my computer won't recognize this dongle key.

So, I'm really not sure if it's the dongle or the software itself.

I called the manufacturer and they say to pony up $450 for the latest version and to transfer the license.

Is there anything else I can try?

FYI- I'm running XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3

that's pretty much your only option. MOST software that comes with a license dongle also comes with a license agreement that explicitly states that the software is non-transferable
