I dont know what the [bleep] is going on with my computer. I've run every scan going... i have:

Registry First Aid
Spybot search and destroy
Spyware Doctor
Mcafee Antivirus
ZoneAlarm Firewall

I've also ran CWS Shredder, housecall thing on the site. and this other trojan scanner.

Found some things... nothing important.... deleted all.... and this probem still is here.

The problem is:

I press ctrl+alt+delete... taskmanager icon will appear in bottom right hand corner next to time. But no window will apear. Also.... i try to install something, and it wont. sometime programs crash unexpectadly. My computer is acting really wierd.

But... if i boot up in safe mode.... taskmanager will open, or if i boot up in normal... but login as another user,,,, taskmanager will open. I believe its something to do with svchost.exe.

Check out how many are running, in my log. And yet.... i searched my comp for the file, and only found one... which is the original one. :S

Please help. Thanks.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Please print a copy of these instructions, or save them to a notepad file on your desktop. Part of this fix will require you to be in Safe Mode, where you won't be able to access the internet.

ok. The first thing I want to do is to get rid of the Backdoor.Socksbot Trojan on your computer. This is a nasty little trojan that allows someone to hack your system. Yes, you have it. Here is what Symantec says about it:
Backdoor.Socksbot consists of two components:

    * Proxyspam.exe.
    * Socks8080.exe, which is also copied to the computer as Svhost.exe.

Purpose
Backdoor.Socksbot gives a hacker full control over your computer and allows the hacker to preform actions, such as:

    * Uploading and downloading files to and from your computer.
    * Executing programs.
    * Deleting files.
    * Launching Denial of Service (DoS) attacks from your computer.
    * Stealing the registration information of various popular Internet games.

I want you to do the following for me, please:

Reboot into Safe Mode by continually tapping the F8 key as the computer begins to boot, then select to enter Safe Mode.
Open your task manager, and end process on the following:

Svhost.exe *notice there is NO letter "C" in this!!*

Then while still in Safe mode, delete the following file:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Svhost.exe *again, do NOT delete the one with the "C" in it!*

Now reboot normally and do the following:

1. Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
2. Type regedit

Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
3. Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
4. In the right pane, delete the value:

Svhost Loader Svhost.exe
Service C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\SOCKS8080.EXE
5. Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

NOTE: This key does not exist on all the systems.
6. In the right pane, delete the value:

Svhost Loader Svhost.exe
7. Exit the Registry Editor.

After you have done the above:

Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Make a reply here with a copy of the Ewido log, as well as a new HJT log, and we'll finish getting you cleaned up! :tazz:

Hello, again! Before I write up the rest of your fix, I wanted to ask you a couple of things. Because of the hack that was installed on your system, I need to make sure if a couple of programs are ones YOU installed, or the hacker did.

DAP
Source Tek/SWF Catcher

Also, if you have any form of Kazaa on your machine, would you please uninstall it?? Kazza is horrendous, and leaves you wide open to re-infection. If you wish to run a P2P program for downloads, I can give you a link that lists safe to use programs after we finish getting you cleaned up! :tazz:

Hello again! Please do uninstall Kazaa! Then reboot, and scan for a new HJT log. Place a check next to only the following entries:

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

O16 - DPF: {DA694446-E25F-11D5-8FF6-0001021C7D4C} (Modem Access) - ms-its:mhtml:file://c:\nosuxxx.mht!http://kazaalite.pl/...:/accessmul.ocx

Now, make sure no other windows are open other than HJT and click the "Fix Selected" button.

Reboot, and post a fresh HJT log here in a reply. Also, let me know how things are running now!!

well... i thank you for getting rid of my virus problem, but i must now critersize you on causing me another problem.

Since the Installation of my "new and better service pack" My USB Ports havent been working. Keeps giving me usb device not recognised. My USB Ports were perfectly fine until i installed it.

My usb drivers are

"SiS 7001 PCI to USB"

Yes, i know there are compatability problems with it and XP, but it was working ok. I tried all things on usbman.com

Nothing. U caused it... can u please fix it?

hello. I am sorry you are having issues with your USB ports. I have never heard of SP1 causing that. I am also not sure how to fix them, but I am going to ask the guys who DO know to come take a look at this thread and help you.
Upgrading to SP1 is necessary, which is why we have people do it before we help them. XP prior to that upgrade had basically no way to protect your computer, and it left you wide open to being re-infected before we even got you totally cleaned up.
Again, I'm sorry you're having this additional problem.

pleasehelpmenow,

nothing in this thread should have caused your USB ports to malfunction...even sp1 has never caused this issue as far as I have seen. This could be completely unrelated.

Could you please post your machine specs..maker, model, etc....

And please, be polite. We all realize what a frustrating experience this can all be, but KAT just helped you out of some serious malware--"you broke it you fix it" seems a tad, well, ungrateful.
