Hello,

I received a free computer, Windows XP. Only problem is that EVERYTHING is in Portuguese!

How do I switch the computer back to English?

Thank you.

I think the only way for you to get it to be English is to to have an English cd version of XP and to reformat your drive and reinstall XP in English on it.

Yes, the only way would be to install the English version of XP. There are many different localized versions of Windows.

Hi,

Thanks for the fast answers.

I have my own XP (English version) disc. Can I use that to get rid of the Portuguese?

Many thanks.

Just enter your BIOS and put your CD/DVD-Rom as your first boot
Save your new Bios Settings
Put your XP cd in your CD/DVD-Rom
Follow the prompts to boot from cd
Format your Hard Drive (will erase Portuguese version) and install your English XP Version

If you need more info will be glad to help

depends....is this version of windows XP already in use on another computer? is it OEM or Retail? (OEM would have come with another computer, or the license key will say OEM on it).
