When booting my system, I get a black screen with cursor.
Up to plan B : boot while pressing F11 to get boot menu : 2 options : CD/DVD or HD (acceptable, but invertion of BIOS order)
Selecting CD/DVD (without a CD in the drive) : get message "reboot or select proper boot device"
When I press ENTER, he boots from my HD !

What can I change to make him start from HD, instead of the procedure above ?

Thanks,

Did you try to boot to safe mode?

Hi Broni,

when I get the message "reboot or select proper boot device", I press ENTER.
If I add a few F8's, I get a menu, allowing to choose between different boot modes :

- save mode
- with boot log
- with command prompt
....

All this works fine, except the normal mode (back to the black screen with blinking cursor)

Regards,

Before I ask you to perform next step...do you think, your computer may be infected?

I managed to clean my system (mainly Trojans), using tools like Hijackthis, SDFix, AVG Rescue CD, Security Task Manager....

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Broni,

Security Task Manager kept reporting suspicious services/executables like these :

C:\System Volume Information\_restore\d5fffa500b1b\smss.exe
C:\System Volume Information\_restore\d5fffa500b1b\svchost.exe

I ended up on http://forums.malwar...showtopic=51368

Tried the proposed solution and .... it worked !

Thanks anyway for trying to help me out.

Best regards,

I'm glad, you can boot normally again, however I'd strongly suggest to go to malware forum, create new topic and make sure your computer is 100% clean...
