PS3 Downloading Games-Stuck

We have a refurbished PS3 that has been working fine until we put in a new game~NBA Live 10~and it began to download. It has been in that mode for 18 hrs and is now at 91% completed. The system has advised not to shut it down or it may corrupt.

Is it normal to take that long?

What can we do to stop it, if anything?
