Help .exe files keep disappearing...

Every time I download something new, the .exe files disappear whenever my computer restarts and applications become useless. The programs work right after downloading them but immediately after restarting the computer, they no longer work and it asks me if I want to delete the shortcut because the .exe file does not exist. I am frustrated and confused as to why this is happening. If anyone one has any suggestions on how to fix this issue, It will be greatly appreciated
