i have been having issues with my computer. most notably, i had that blue desktop with a black box saying windows error spyware blah blah blah, and it would not let me change my desktop, and tons of spyware/trojans/adware etc.
i went through the following:
i've run trend micro pc-cillin (which i already had) a few times
ran cleanup
ran ad-aware SE as recommended
ran CWShredder
ran spybot S&D
ran ewido
trend housecall wouldnt work, so i ran panda activescan
ran TDS 3
and i have the current windows update
some of the problems are solved - long lists of crap have been quarantined and removed by various programs. however, i still can't change my desktop (the blue desktop with message is gone, but it's just plain gray now - it seems to start off with my desktop picture then cover up right away, and when i shut down, the gray goes away revealing my picture for just a second). also, "iSearch" has taken over my firefox search window - when i delete it from the searchplugins folder, it keeps coming back. i'm not sure if there are more problems still happening - i'm getting some kind of warning message when i boot that says something about how windows cant find svhost.exe and i should delete reference to it in the registry, but i just close it and there doesnt appear to be anything further about it.
