Here's an example of my confusion (from Pricewatch): These prices are all fairly close, but there are so many types. Is there really much difference between the different speeds? Do I want 533Mhz, 800 or 'Prescott'? etc...
$148 - Pentium 4 2.8GHz Prescott
$143 - Pentium 4 2.8GHz 800MHz
$153 - Pentium 4 2.8GHz 533MHz
$155 - Pentium 4 2.6GHz 800MHz
$138 - Pentium 4 2.6GHz 533MHz
$185 - Pentium 4 2.6GHz 400MHz
$99 - Pentium 4 2.4GHz Prescott
$143 - Pentium 4 2.4GHz 800MHz
$116 - Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz
$149 - Pentium 4 2.4GHz 400MHz
$110 - Pentium 4 2.26GHz 533MHz
$110 - Pentium 4 2.26GHz
Even more difficult is finding out what motherboard to buy. There are so many brands, so many models... I am confused about all the specs, i need help with some of the basics, as well as the more advanced extras from model to model.
Does anyone know of a good resource for educating myself? I am completely overwhelmed...
Thanks!
