My system will operate for about 30 minutes and then lock up. Following that, a few minutes later the screen goes black, the computer still runs, the monitor indicates it is getting some sort of video signal as it does not go into a "No video signal" alert. I ran speedfan and got some strange voltages from the PSU. Could that be the problem and do I need to replace the PS?

It is an Antec 650 watt PS.

Here are the strange voltages I am getting:

-12 volt - - - - -4.38 volts
- 5 volt - - - - 4.05 volts
+ 5 volt - - - - 3.58 volts

Hi Frustrated in Kansas :)

It could very well be with what you posted.

Lets see what Everest says
Download and install Free Everest Home Edition
Open it.
1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report. Not the Report icon
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so I can check your temps and voltages...

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

Here are the two results you requested.

It took some time since the computer shut down half way through

How did you get the Everest Ultimate Free Edition from my link?

The Ultimate free has been know to leave out certain info that could be vital to what we need.
Please run the Free Home version.

Also, disregard the -5V and -12V readings. PCs don't use negative voltages.

Is the interior clean of heat trapping dust?

I would also add a secondary reading Speedfan to double check the readings.
Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.
  • It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
  • Now go to Start and then to All Programs
  • Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
  • In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
  • Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
  • Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
  • Attach it to your next reply

I got the Ultimate by searching on the 'net before I contacted you. It is a shareware 30 day trial.

Here are the screen shots from speed Fan and from Everest Home Edition.

It is also crippled shareware and so it sucks! That is why the links go to the old version where it does not say "Trial Version" on many of the critical items.
