Compaq Pressario 2500 won't boot

My laptop won't boot from cd. It's stuck on the Esc F2 F12 screen now.

On Bios Phoenix revision KH.F.06 shows internal hard drive:"none" even though the hard drive is set up to 'auto'.
In the past I was able to get the hard drive to show up there 2 or 3 times but now for about 2 weeks nothing I do makes it show up.

If anyone could help me fix this laptop that would be great.

Can anyone help please?

This is a XP Professional. Yestarday I got the 6 boot disks and tried them but it didn't do anything. I could see the foppy drive on but it didn't ask for the rest of the disks.

What should I do?
