Laptop will not power on

i have tested the ac adapter. works fine.
i have tested the dc jack. powe is flowing through it.

i do not know where it the power flow is breaking. how can i find out how to trace the flow of power. battery wont charge and lappy wont power up even though plugged in.
ram. ok.
hd. ok.
lcd. ok.

this is a gateway ma7 lappy

Hello,miteea, and welcome to Geeks to go !

That appears to be a somewhat common issue with that Gateway Model. Usually trained techs replace the motherboard rather the tracing the problem on the board itself and from you description sounds like it is a board issue.
