NOT A PROBLEM - FOUND SOLUTION - ROUTER WAS HANDLING DIRECT CONNECTION DIFFERENTLY THAN WIRELESS - PROBLEM SOLVED
... BUT SYSTEM RESTORE STILL FAILS - see 2nd post and ...
http://www.geekstogo...wn-t279646.html

Recently (last few days) loading of URLs, downloading, file copying on my PC has been slower than previously. Ex: downloading of 8Mb was 5 secs - now 30 secs

Now I know downloading speed depends on Internet BUT tried (downloading of FF file) at same time on wife's laptop ... the laptop finished and the desktop still had 30 sec to go.

Also, copied 25Mb file from HDD to flash drive - took 2 mins

System: Dell Inspiron Desktop 545MT 64bit, 2.70Ghz, 6Gb Ram, 500Gb HDD (310Gb free), Win7, Firefox 3.6.3

Ran:
TFC - successful
ERUNT - successful
Ccleaner - registry scan/fixed - successful
Mbam -updated/scan - both successful - no infections
Avast 5 - scan successful - no threats
REBOOT - same problem

Gmer - error - "C:\Windows\system32\config\system:
The system cannot find the file specified."
OLT - pasted 'custom scan info' (from GTG Guide) - error
"Invalid time flag" - no logs.

What to do now?

Haven't received a response yet - will wait until next week before posting 'waiting room'

In the meantime, tried to 'restore' to point at beginning of May (PC worked fine then ... 10 MBPS for downloads) - maybe I installed something that went south - BUT - restore failed (see System Restore did not complete successfully. again not responded to).
