I have a friends laptop which is giving her trouble. it is a dell vostro 1320 running vista. when you turn it on it loads up and seems fine. But i cant open windows explorer, i can open most programmes but cant get into MBAM when i try open it it comes up with an error "file system error (-1073741701) " when i try and open My Computer, My Documents etc. nothing happens at all, i ran chkdsk /f in command prompt but it wont restart or turn off. When i try to restart or turn it off it just logs me out, the only way to turn it off is by holding the power button. i cant use any tools on it.

any help????

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Create new topic in malware forum and state your problem.
They have tools to go around your issues.
