Hello guys!

Been a long time since I posted on here! I am working on a project using MS Access. As the topic says - I am having problems with retrieving data from a table and displaying.

The one table has the component information like manufacture name, size and other things. The other table has some information pertaining to Temperature (mostly numbers here). On this 2nd table there are some fields that have no value and have been set to "---" by the previous db guy. All the fields are set to TEXT value.

Now on the final front end - which displays information, the information from the first table shows up just fine. All the temperatures and info from the 2nd table show up as #NAME? Error.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I have the table sources set to the right values (like =[temp rear]). I also tried changing the field from TEXT to NUmber. But that did not help. The relationship is correct and the keys are correct.

I am at my wits end! Please help!!

Just a couple of thoughts:

Are you referring to a Form when you mention the 'final front end'? If so, did the data display correctly until now or did something change that caused these issues?

The #NAME error is letting us know (not always clearly), that something is either misspelled, has incorrect syntax or the reference is missing.

I imagine you have already checked all the control sources, names, etc, since that is usually the first place to check.

This is my first post here, so I hope I'm not out of line. DM is correct. I believe that the formatting in your table is causing the issue.

You can use a Null value in your tables, but I don't believe that you should have a "---" entry in the field without using some form of custom formatting. Check the format value of your field properties in design mode.

For instance, let's say your Field is named Temperature, and your Data Type is a number. If you leave the Format value blank, a 98.6 entry in the Temperature field will reflect as 98.6 and a negative 98.6 entry will reflect as -98.6. If no entry is made in the field, nothing will display.

Now, on the flip side of the coin, say you want to follow the previous administrator's lead and leave the tick marks in the field. You can customize the formatting for the field to suit your taste. Depending on the level of temperatures that you're using, you might try some of the following examples as a Format value.

0000.000;(0000.000);0000.000;"---"

An entry in the Temperature field of 875.65 will appear as 0875.650,
a negative entry of -875.65 will appear in parenthesis as (0875.650),
a 0 entry will appear as 0000.000,
and no entry (null) will appear as ---.

And to change things up a bit, try this.

####.###;(####.###);###0.0##;"No temp recorded."

The same entries will now appear as;

875.65
(875.65)
0.0
No temp recorded.

Thank you both for your input! I tried and looked for things that might be wrong and could not find a thing. Control sources and names look good. The same fields work fine when I pull data from table 1. Even though am pulling numbers that are in as TEXT. However, when data is pulled from Table 2, nothing seems to work.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I am having this issue with a database at work.  In the date field, the form prints as #Name?  The form should show today's date.  There are several other users on this database and their forms work fine. The

 

I've tried-

 

-Unregister and register the activex controls (which has worked with other users in the past) The error message I receive when I do this is

  DllRegisterServer in z:\NtSvc.OCX failed

  Return code was 0x80040200

- I logged in as an administrator on the computer and did the same with no luck. 

 

Any help would be appreciated

At the time of starting the program you generally this error occurs:
Error: 48
Which means Error in loading DLL

 

in order to solve this issue permanently simply opt for some third party repair tool

I would suggest you to go for  MS Access Repair Tool…follow the link get this product ....hopefully it will help to solve your queries.
