Hi,
a friend has just given me his 3DLabs Wildcat VP800 VPU 256 MB card running 3.09 Bios and 3.01-0852 driver.
It seems quite good but often defaults to the windows default monitor settings as you get when you start in safe mode. A pop up window informs that the driver has ceased working properly and a reboot will restore it - which it does.
Also, it often hangs up and requires a reboot.
Is there anything you can do to help.
By the way, I am running XP Pro.
Regards and thank you,
Pete

Incidentally, I inadvertently posted this under 'Operating systems".

Is there any reason why this post is being ignored?
Does anybody have any idea about this problem?
Pete

Doh..........it is actually a VP880pro if that makes any difference.

Is there any reason why this post is being ignored?

It is most likely not being ignored. It probably got missed (it happens), or no-one knows the answer.

Off hand I would say there is a problem with the card or the driver.
Have you looked for another driver for the card?

That driver version is not on the list at 3Dlabs Certified Drivers

I would try another driver.

As 123Runner says this driver is not on the list of certified 3D Labs Drivers,
but you can download it for free from here;

You can either try re-installing the 3.01-0852 driver because it could be corrupted or try another previous version.
Sometimes the latest driver is not always the best.
That is why we do not just recommend updating a driver unless it is to fix a particular issue.
