When I open My Computer and try to navigate to any folder, all of windows explorer closes. The task bar disappears, my desktop icons disappear, and then it all comes back. The cycle is about 5-10 secs.
It happens in 3 different ways; 1) I can open My Computer, but the next click on any sub-directory causes the behavior. 2) When I try to open My Computer it occurs before the first window appears. 3) Sometimes the first window will come up, but then a few seconds later it shuts down. All three exhibit the same symptom - makes explorer 'reset'. I can watch it disappear in task manager, then reappear.

I have run Avast, Spybot, CCleaner, RegMechanic, RegistryBooster, Eusing with no improvement. Currently running BitDefender online scan.

Thanks for any help you can give.
