I cannot get ANY updates for Antivirus, Spyware, Adobe Flash, anything to stick. I will download updates, everything seems fine, I shut down for the night, restart again and Nothing -- no icons, no updates, nothing. I know something is wrong, but if I can't get the updates or downloads to work, how can I follow your instructions for locating malware, trojans, etc. ?

Also -- I want to dump Vista, heck Microsoft and download Umbutu -- but have read that I can't with my particular laptop, CPU fan doesn't run?

I also need to add, that when I delete any programs, files, etc., when I re-start my computer, everything I did is undone. In other words, no changes take.
