Hi darcy5 sorry to hear you are having this issue.
Couple of things to ask;
Where you experiencing any other problems before this happened,
Does the DVD tray open & close,
Have you got an xp installation or system restore disk,
Have you tried the monitor on another computer (a laptop will do)

Hi Phillpower2.... Thanks for your reply. Here are my answers to your questions:
Nope. I wasn't having any problems before.
There isn't a a dvd tray. Discs just slides in. Usually if you push the eject button you can hear it try to eject, but it doesn't make a sound now when I push it.
I do have my XP and system restore discs
The monitor works with my other computer.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Is the computer still under warranty, if it is return it for repair or replacement.
Did you try getting into BIOS by tapping F8 when powering the computer up.
As the computer will not accept/eject disks or turn off it is very likely the psu
has failed, if it has the concern is has it done any damage to other components.
What was the computer doing when this problem first occurred, was the computer
connected to the ethernet & have you had any electrical storms or power spikes
just before the problem first occurred.
There is very little information available on the Dell Studio Hybrid T40g which
does not help, so unless you are confident about opening the computer up it would
be better left to a competent person, if you are out of warranty & happy to look
at fixing it yourself there is always help on hand at GTG
Sorry I am not able to offer you more constructive advice, please let us
know what you decide & if we can offer you any assistance.
