Hello,
While I was searching the web for info/help, I saw that all the people who seeked help here got a response.
I started searching the web because I have AOL dial up and while I was online, I received two emails from mailer-daemon stating that emails were returned to me because the screennames did not exist. However, although the emails were sent from my account, it was not by me. I'm assuming it happened while I was online because the emails were actually returned while I was on. So I started looking at all the processes running and tried to find out about them online and came across HiJack This. This is my first time using it, and it doesn't really do me any good because I do not know what is a virus and what is not. Can someone please help me with the HiJack Log and maybe explain/advise me on what to do about the email problem? I'm Just concerned because my mother ordered a cellular phone from the verizon website and had to give out her information such as her social number and drivers license number.

Hi imperfectimage, welcome to GTG! <_<

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the emails. It something known as email address "spoofing". Many modern viruses spoof email address headers to appear as though they've been sent from your address. This DOES NOT mean you have a virus on your computer. Usually, someone has your email address in their contact list, and contracts a virus. The virus then sends emails of itself to others, pretending to be from you (spoofing your address). Generally, these don't last too long, as eventually the infected party discovers they have a virus.

What your seeing is the emails that weren't able to be delivered successfully. To the email server, the email appeared to come from your address, so they bounce it back to you. Sneaky huh?

Thank you admin. <_<
I was worried that I might have had a virus and that people might have also been able to see personal information because my parents make a lot of transaction through the computer. I was going crazy trying to use everything from norton antivirus to AVG to the cleaner. For a while, I was beginning to think that the virus detectors were wrong because I did not know about spoofing. :D
Stayed up until 10 trying to download anything and everything I thought might help me. :P Anyways, thank you for helping me out. If not for you, I think I might have actually set out to get every antivirus program there are out there. :D

Sorry to ask another question, but I just thought about this. The screenname that recieved the returned emails is not a screenname which I use to email to friends and family. I use the screenname only to email companies to apply for jobs, or when I sign up on certain websites like this forum. I was wondering, can there be viruses from these places that causes spoofing?

Also, I keep seeing a "conime.exe" and a "residence.exe" on my task manager, and I was wondering if it was anything I should be worried about.

Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm kind of bad with computers.

Thank You

Yes, viruses can also get you email from website (but not this one). That's one reason we remove email addresses when posted in this forum.

Just to be safe, let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

A note before I post the log is that a couple of posts before, I was concerned about a "conime.exe." Before my latest post got a response, I spoke with my friend and he basically walked me through regedit so that it wouldn't load anymore. Something about HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\console\loadconime and then setting the value to 0. I tried setting it back to 1 after you told me not to mess with anything yet, but now it wont show up again on the list of processes running. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing or if it doesn't even matter. <_<
Anyways, I am sorry to keep comng back with more questions. Here goes the log:
