Think something accidentally got uninstalled. Have no sound whats so ever on the computer. When I go into device manager there is a yellow question mark in other devices. Not sound, video, game controllers. When I right click the ? mark, there are 2 things that drop down. One says Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and two says Video Controller (VGA compatible). They give me the choices to update; disable; & uninstall.
When I click properties it says to reinstall.
Says this... The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

If I try to reinstall it asks me for a disc. I do not have one. Not sure what I have to reinstall. DriverMax was not that helpful. I don't really want to keep trying these driver help downloads. I just want to know what exactly to do. This is the info I got from my computer. I am sorry I don't know more than this. It is not our main computer, thought it was rebuilt. I really appreciate any help. My kids are driving me nuts wanting sound for their games, lol. Thank you!

I had a friend with a similar problem and for your OTHER with a YELLOW QUESTION MARK that says Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus downlaod these drivers "motherboard_driver_audio_microsoft_bus" for your OS version and install them, if it works you should be ok after.

Hope this will help you.

Simple download these drivers and run the download, if your problem is what I think it is this should fix your problem.

Just do a Google search for Motherboard Driver Audio Microsoft Bus

or you can try this link to download this driver http://www.softwarep...iver-patch.html

Just make sure your clicking on the right download button (its not the big blue one) or you'll download one of those trial driver updaters

Hi sweettommy, :)

In device manager, click on Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. A new window will open.
Along the top, click on driver, on the left side click on, update driver. A new window will open.
Click yes, this time only, click next. A new window will open.
Click install the software automatically. Click next.
Windows will search for the driver on Microsoft.

Follw the promps.

Let us know if it works.

I have done that a couple times. It searches, then says The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software.

OK, we will try this.

In Alzeimer's 2nd post, click on the link he has given.

In the window that opens, click this file, motherboard_driver_audio_Microsoft_bus.exe
Do not be tempted by the other free scans on the page.

Another page will open to start the file download, a box will open asking if you want to run or save the file, (if it does not open, look for a yellow bar near top of browser, click and allow download) click save, where?, to the desktop.

After the download, click the file on your desktop to run the install. Follow the prompts.

When you computer restarts, do you have sound?
