My dad died a few months ago and there are some files I need to get off of his laptop. Problem is, it's not working. I turn it on, briefly get a normal screen, then black/cursor. Esc/f2/f12 will work if I act fast enough, but I don't have the XP restore CD. I don't think it helped anyway; my dad was trying to fix it before he got sick and wasn't having much success. He was the computer genius in the family; I'm pretty clueless. Any guesses?
