Hello! I realize this has probably been done to death already but after attempting (and failing) to remove Aurora myself based on others' solutions on this site, I've decided to ask for help.

Steps already taken: I've booted in safe mode and ran Adaware, Spybot, ewido, and CleanUp. After reboot I ran Bazooka Scanner and Aurora remains - as I expected since I'm not sure which files or registry entries I need to manually delete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :tazz:

please download RKFiles from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in safe mode and run RKFiles.bat. It may take a while. When it is finished a window should appear with a log.

Restart your computer in normal mode, and please post the contents of the logfile, which should be at c:\log.txt.

Regards,

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK
In the list of services find:
System Startup Service (SvcProc)
Rightclick that line and choose Properties.
On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled.
In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service
In the dialog box paste: SvcProc

Then download the Killbox.
Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.
Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.
Select "Delete on Reboot".
Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\okxbagk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

Did everything listed, except C:\WINDOWS\system32\okxbagk.exe was not on my system. Also SvcProc was already stopped when I went to disable it before rebooting into safe-mode.

Aurora remains

Reboot into safe mode and double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Reboot once more and post a new log.

That is good to hear. :tazz:

In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Open Process manager and choose c:\windows\system32\fvjcjg.exe
Click Kill Process and click Back > Scan

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [txwurud] c:\windows\system32\fvjcjg.exe

then click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a File on reboot and again choose
c:\windows\system32\fvjcjg.exe

When prompted let the computer reboot.

Post a new log when you are done.

It seems my celebration was a bit premature, Aurora is back after restart. :tazz:

In Hijack-this I killed the fvjcjg.exe process as requested, then after a new scan the filename had changed to begugc.exe - so I fixed that along with Nail.exe. When I went to mark begugc.exe for deletion it had changed again to plogwor.exe - so I marked that for deletion and restarted.

Another serious annoyance is that everytime I restart my comp, Windows Firewall is disabled. This just started happening as of last night. So now I turn the modem off while restarting, turn on firewall after logged on and then turn on the modem.

Here's the new log:

I went through and redid the last few instructions, this time with the modem unplugged through all steps. Looks like now I'm clean possibly?

The log looks good, but I'd feel better if you scanned your computer with Ewido:
http://www.ewido.net/en/

It should get all the old files that it used.
You don't want to execute one by accident and have to start all over. :tazz:

Regards,

Nuked all remnants w/ ewido, adaware, spybot, regcleaner and CleanUp.
Reset my firewall service to start automatically so that's not a problem anymore.

Thanks again for all your help :tazz:
