Filename"c:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0078482.CPY"file
malware name: Win32:Adware-gen[Adw]
malware type:Adware

There a like six of these except last 2 digits in filename A0078483.etc.
Not real computer savy, so I hope this is what you requested.

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

Well, I downloaded OTL to my desktop, but when I tried to run it, It gave me an error message saying, this utility was not compatible with any OS prior to NT. :)

the file avast is flagging is nothing to worry about

Download TFC to your desktop
  • Open the file and close any other windows.
  • It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
  • Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button. Then post it here.

no they wont, try disable avast if you can

Well I'm sorry for not responding sooner, but I've not been able to get to my computer for a few days...Any how, I downloaded TFC to my desktop after disabling "Avast", and when I try to run it, I'm still getting the same error message as with OTL. "This program is not compatible with any windows programs prior to NT." Surprise,Surprise! Beginning to think NO-ONE can help me. Ironically, I have tried to update my current programs as much as I can, that It takes a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes for my computer to finish booting up because of all the "expects a newer version of windows" and "script error" pop-ups. After that,my computer runs okay.(relatively speaking) The problem I have is that this is the only functional computer in my home, and cannot afford to purchase another one comparable to this one just yet;so I have to preserve this one as long as I can. Now that "rescue disks" are no longer available for my OS and being unable to "restore" my computer; leaves me very vulnerable. If it weren't for Avast and WOT, I'd have no protection at all! signed the "RELIC" =(

It's not so much what Avast is Flagging, Its that the specific malware that's being flagged,is preventing me from creating "restore-points" and restoring my computer to an earlier date. If another type of malware or virus should happen to infect my computer, then its pretty much over for me! LOL And I know that the likelihood of that happening is almost inevitable since I can't install the most current version of Avast due to incompatibility issues. Which probably means my "definition files" aren't up to date either! Might explain why this particular malware can't be repaired or quarantined. So I'm sure you can see my dilemna. Well I really appreciate that you tried to help me,and if you should happen to come across an alternate remedy or solution; please let me know...signed the "Hopeless Relic" =(
