A few days ago I started experiencing a viral attack on my computer. Every time I tried to do anything, an "AV" warning would tell me that my computer is being infected, and I needed to download their anti-virus software. I couldn't even run my own anti-virus software.

Today, I tried once more, clicking my AVG Free Edition before the system was fully up and running, and was able to scan the computer.

AVG came back with the crypt.xml virus information, so I placed it in the virus vault and then deleted it (3 instances, plus a warning about a registry reference to the virus).

I don't get those messages anymore, but now the computer seems to be inundated with script-blockers/pop-up blockers, etc...

I can enter data into certain fields (such as Facebook message/comment boxes), but I can't submit it. Also, Google and a bunch of other programs have started acting funky.

I've attached a HijackThis log, and I'm hoping someone can help me solve this string of problems.

Thanks in advance for any help provided (I'm a Chef...not a Computer Tech) :)

Go into Safe Mode:
http://www.computerh...sues/chsafe.htm

Logon as your usual logon and run HJT, scan only.

Check the following then Fix Checked:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5577
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qcgrgfqe] C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Application Data\achgyieeh\euvbhfftssd.exe

Reboot into regular mode.

Do as much of

http://www.geekstogo...uide-t2852.html

as you can. If a step won't work, skip to the next one. Copy and paste your gmer, mbam, otl, & extras logs into a reply. Do not attach them.

If you lose internet access after running MBAM or if you are not able to get to the downloads:

In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings, then uncheck all boxes and OK. Close IE and restart IE.

In FireFox, Tools, Options, Advanced, Settings, check No Proxy then OK. Close Firefox and restart Firefox.

In Chrome, Wrench, Options, Under the Hood, Change Proxy Settings, uncheck all boxes, OK.
