Yesterday i turned my PC on and My AVG antivirus poped up saying that there was a problem with one of the features on it. Later on that day i decided to updage avg which i did and it asked me to reboot my pc. I did this and now i have problems. Firstly my computer usually takes about 12-15 seconds to boot up to the screen where i click on my username and type my password in to login. And after I login in it takes around 20 seconds to fully be loaded up ready for use

Now though it takes around 60 seconds to get to the login screen and then it very slowly allows me to type in my password and after i press enter it trys to sign in but just sits there doing nothing. I left it for 30 minutes and it still didnt sign in.

Also on the signin page there is the shutdown button. If i click this it take 30 seconds for the window with the options to shut down, restart, or logout. And i click restart or shutdown and it says its shuttingdown but goes no further.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was able to get onto my desktop by going through safe mode. I then ran chkdisk that restarted my pc and changed a couple of things. I was then able to log in normally and immediately removed avg. My pc is running like normal except 90% of my programs i open wont run and come up with either a reader_sl.exe error or a rundll32.exe error and i cannot install anything. What now!!!!

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
