I am new to this group (today) and regrettably I am a computer user as opposed to someone who understands how they work.

My XP Home Edition broke down and I tried to reinstall it on C drive, but the drive woudl not format, so I moved the material I stored from d drive to C drive and installed Windows XP from my disc onto D drive. Whether this is relevant to my subsequent problems, I really don't know.

Anyway, I am now unable to install a USB mouse and the Search facility in XP does not function. My main concern is the Search as I use it a lot. I enter a file name and click on Search and nothing happens ... any suggestions appreciated,

Dave.
