The instruction at “0x00000000” referenced memory at “0x00000000”. The memory could not be “read”. Click on OK to terminate the program.

Suddenly got this error message when I tried to open Firefox. As far as I know, nothing has changed since the day before. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (completely) and system restore, but no joy.
IE works ok, as does Google Chrome (although GC has a few other bugs in), but I really prefer Firefox.
Any ideas?
I'm using Windows XP, service pack 3.

Hello Judith Dower ...

Does the Safe Mode version work?

The Safe Mode version can be accessed through the Start menu......Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). If Firefox will open the Safe Mode version, the problem will likely be with an add-on.
