My neighbors son has an e machine. It is one year old and the hard drive died. I put in a new hard drive and installed windows vista. Now he can't get on the internet. When I check to see what he has it is a realtek RTL8101. I am trying to find the drivers for it. I went to the realtek site but no luck. Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks

What kind of disk did you use to install Vista? Did you install chipset driver?

I used the Vista Disk. I thought the drivers would be in that when installed. Should I put the disk back in and do a reinstall.

If it was real MS Vista DVD (not some recovery DVD), it'll include most drivers, but not all.

What's the eMachine model?

It is a real MS Vista DVD not a recovery. I will have to check and see what model it is. It had Windows XP when it was purchased but they never got a disk with it. I will get the model as soon as I see them tomorrow.

The model is EL1600-01H. I have been reading up on it and from what I can see it is Vista compatible. Everything else on it works fine.I am going to search some more for the drivers but any help would definetly be appreciated.
Thanks

Go here: http://www.emachines...rt/drivers.html
Then Desktop>EL Series>EL1600, select your Vista version from "Operating system" drop-down menu.
Download and install chipset driver.
LAN driver is there as well.
