keyboard failure

I got a bad virus on my computer (gateway)
Tried to fix and wouldnt let me access any of my windows.exe files
Couldnt uninstall antivirus (AVG) demo to re-install another
SO had to re-install win xp...things going fine until got to licsence code entry section...then keyboard didn't work ( I have a gateway millenium desktop keyboard)
I tried another keyboard but no dice (it was an dinosaur keyboard)
Putting all these factors together what can u tell me??

Hi cheryl hill
What is the Gateway model name or number & have you tried both
a PS2 keyboard & USB type of keyboard.
You may need to go into BIOS & enable the type of keyboard that
you are attempting to use (tap F8 whilst booting up)make sure
you save & exit.
